Upper and Lower Control Arm Set
1971-1981 GM Full Size (Impala, Delta 88, Electra)
Custom Extended Length
The Metco Motorsports high performance control arms for the 1971-1981 GM full size cars are CNC-machined from 6061-T6511 billet aluminum for unsurpassed strength and precision-fit. The control arms are clear-anodized for long-lasting surface protection.
Our control arms are designed to be installed as a direct replacement for the factory control arms, but offer the benefits of the dramatically stronger billet design and Energy Suspension-brand polygraphite bushings. Each bushing has a grease fitting for long term, noise-free service. In most cases, no modifications to the vehicle are required for installation, although compatibility with the factory rear sway bar is unconfirmed.
These control arms are offered in this extended-length configuration for custom applications. The center-to-center distance is 0.75" longer than the stock length for the lower arms, and 0.50" longer for the upper arms. These dimensions are the same as is used in our proven 1994-1996 Impala SS wheel-centering control arm kit, and work well in modified 1971-1981 GM B-bodies to move the rear wheels rearward in the wheel well. Like all Metco upper control arms, the upper arms are set to the proper length on a fixture and tightened, but are fully adjustable by the end user if necessary.
High-quality mounting hardware is included, but due to sway bar variations between applications no sway bar mounting hardware is provided.
Note 1: The bushing pins in these control arms are configured for use with the provided 9/16" mounting hardware. In very rare instances, it is necessary to enlarge the mounting holes at the chassis and/or the rear axle for installation. Installation instructions are provided.
